Christiane Northrup, M.D., is a visionary pioneer and a leading authority in the field of women’s health and wellness, which includes the unity of mind, body, emotions, and spirit. Internationally known for her empowering approach to women’s health and wellness, Dr. Northrup teaches women how to thrive at every stage of life.
A board-certified OB/GYN physician, Dr. Northrup graduated from Dartmouth Medical School and completed her residency at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston. She was also an assistant clinical professor of OB/GYN at Maine Medical Center for 20 years.
Dr. Northrup knows that the key to vibrant health on all levels is within us—our inner wisdom. She says, “When we find the connection between our thoughts, beliefs, physical health, and life circumstances, we find that we are in the driver’s seat of our lives and can make profound changes. Nothing is more exhilarating or empowering.”
Dr. Northrup’s work has been featured on Super Soul Sunday on OWN, The Oprah Winfrey Show, the Today Show, NBC Nightly News, The View, Rachael Ray, Good Morning America, 20/20, and The Dr. Oz Show, among many others. Women clearly trust Dr. Northrup’s approach. In 2013, Reader’s Digest named her one of “The 100 Most Trusted People in America.” In 2016, she was named one of Oprah Winfrey’s Super Soul 100, a group of leaders who are using their voices and talent to awaken humanity. In 2018, Dr. Northrup received the first Mind/Body Healing award, a special category within the New Thought Walden Awards, honoring those who use empowering spiritual ideas and philosophies to change lives and make the planet a better place. In 2020 and again in 2021, Watkins Magazine named Dr. Northrup on their “Watkins Spiritual 100 List” as one of their 100 Most Spiritually Influential Living People – spiritual teachers, activist, authors, and thinkers that change the world.

“Long, long, long ago, I knew that how we are born absolutely determines all kinds of things in our lives,” said Dr. Christiane Northrup in a recent interview. Holding a board certification in OB-GYN, Dr. Northrup has dedicated the past thirty years to making the child birthing process as mother and father-empowered as possible.
Dr. Northrup has been a profound critic of conventional medicine. “Most women do not need any of the numerous interventions, mechanical and drug-mediated, that make childbirth in this country resemble a medical emergency rather than a normal physiological event,” she contends.
“Birth interventions that bypass the normal processes of labor and birth are the equivalent of clamping the umbilical cord before the baby has had a chance to adjust to breathing on her own,” wrote Dr. Northrup back in 2007. And that is just one of many common medical procedures, Dr. Northrup declares, that are causing harm to babies and mothers.
• Flu and DPT shots for pregnant women - “There is no science, not one study that shows that’s a good idea.”
• Electronic fetal monitoring - “There’s not a single study that shows that [electronic] fetal monitoring does anything except increase the C-section rate.”
• Circumcision - “What a ridiculous thing that is. That’s cutting off 40,000 nerve endings on an organ that God gave a man.” “So, what doctors do is they don’t understand normal male anatomy, so they’ll retract it — causes bleeding and pain, and then later they have to have a circumcision because what they’ve done is they’ve created all this scarring. This doesn’t happen in Europe.”
• Tubal ligations (having your tubes tied) - “I never did tubal ligations till a woman was 35 because a lot of women don’t wake up to, “Oh my God, I really do want children” — until after being sterilized by the procedure.
• Epidural anesthesia, labor induction, vacuum extractor, forceps deliveries, and C-sections unless absolutely necessary - Dr. Northrup has often cited the pioneering work of Ina May Gaskin, a highly experienced midwife and founder of the Farm Midwifery Center. Gaskin and her team have overseen thousands of births, mostly in home settings or at their center in rural Tennessee. Notably, less than 2% of the births they’ve attended involved C-sections (compared to the U.S. average of 32.1%), fewer than 1% required the use of forceps or vacuum extractors, and drug assistance was limited to genuine medical emergencies.

A very important interview from October 2020 with highly respected Dr Christiane Northrup.
True health is only possible when we understand the unity of our minds, emotions, spirits, and physical bodies and stop striving for perfection.” – Christiane Northrup, MD

Dr. Northrup has spent her life as an advocate for women’s health and wellness, first as a practicing OB/GYN physician for 25 years and now as an internationally respected writer and speaker. Her books have been translated into 30 languages.
A multiple New York Times best-selling author, Dr. Northrup put her own personal truth on paper in 1994, with the first edition of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom (Bantam, 1994, 1998, 2006, 2010, 2020). This groundbreaking classic quickly became a New York Times bestseller, and has been the veritable bible of women’s health for nearly two decades. Recently, the new, fully revised 5th edition of Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom published. In this updated-for-2020 edition, Dr. Northrup expands on the many ways a woman can access her body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal. As in previous editions, she covers the entire range of women’s health—from the first menstrual period through menopause. Plus, she adds a lot of new information to empower women even further with recommendations for combining new technologies with natural remedies, and her advice on how to use them to support the miraculous healing powers of a woman’s body.
Her second book, The Wisdom of Menopause (Bantam, 2001, 2006, 2012), has been embraced by women everywhere, including Oprah Winfrey, who sought Dr. Northrup’s wisdom when she turned 50 and faced “The Big M.” In this New York Times bestseller, Dr. Northrup once again challenged convention with inspiring insights—the “change” is not a collection of symptoms to be fixed, but a mind/body revolution, which brings tremendous opportunity for happiness.

Instagram has disabled the account of Dr. Christiane Northrup, a best-selling author and prominent gynecologist, for spreading misinformation about COVID-19 and vaccines, according to the social media platform’s parent company.
“This account was removed for breaking our rules on COVID and vaccine misinformation,” said a spokesperson for Facebook, which owns Instagram, via e-mail on Friday.
Northrup, a resident of Yarmouth, Maine, didn’t immediately respond to voice and e-mail messages seeking comment. The Portland Press Herald first reported on Instagram’s move to nix her account.

A question popped up on facebook the other day about Dr. Christiane Northrup, an OB/GYN who has been a frequent guest on Oprah. I hadn’t heard much about her for a while, but a foul taste still lingered from previous encounters with her work. So I went over to her website to see what fare she’s currently dishing up. It isn’t pretty. (Cached version).
This month’s news item is titled “Angst Over Not Vaccinating Children is Unwarranted.” Regular readers will be expecting a typical antivax screed, and they won’t be disappointed, but I’d like to highlight some of the propaganda techniques Northrup uses to advance her dangerous lies.
She begins her story with this:
In June, 2010 there was an outbreak of pertussis (whooping cough) in California that reporters were calling the worst epidemic in 50 years.
There are two problems with this opening sentence. The outbreak is ongoing, and it’s not “reporters” who are calling it “the worst epidemic in 50 years.” The California Department of Public Health reports that the state has seen the largest number of cases in the last 55 years. Of course the state was much smaller 55 years ago, so for comparison they give us an incidence rate: 10.3 cases/100,000 in 2010, the highest rate in 48 years (when the rate was 10.9 cases/100,000). So far in California, there have been 9 deaths. All of the deaths were in babies eight of whom were unvaccinated and one of whom had been vaccinated only days before becoming ill, not early enough to develop immunity.

Yesterday, former gynaecologist Christiane Northrup took to Instagram to broadcast paranoid disinformation about the impacts of COVID-19 vaccines on women’s reproductive health. In addition to falsely suggesting that the mRNA vaccine secretes poison through the sweat glands of a vaccinated person, Northrup advised her followers to tell their partners that their sexual relationships would end if the partner were to be vaccinated.
With some fellow members of the Disinformation Dozen — together responsible for almost two-thirds of anti-vaccine scaremongering online — Northrup has been capitalizing on anecdotal reports that the new COVID-19 vaccines are disrupting women’s menstrual cycles. Dr. Jennifer Gunter addresses the emerging science on these reports here.
Northrup spoke from the Tulsa OK airport en route from a “Health and Freedom Conference”, hosted at Rhema Bible College. At the event — a delta of QAnon, pseudoscience, and MAGA influencers — she spoke alongside sex-assaulting cult leader Jeffrey Prather, and Lin Wood, who resurrected Q in a speech in which he called for the execution of political enemies.

Highly sensitive people—or empaths—see life through the eyes of compassion and caring. They were born that way. As a result, they carry a tremendous amount of inner light. But they’re also the favored prey of “vampires” who feed off empaths’ energy and disrupt their lives on every level—physical, emotional, and financial.
In Dodging Energy Vampires, Christiane Northrup, M.D., draws on the latest research in this exciting new field, along with stories from her global community and her own life, to explore the phenomenon of energy vampires and show us how we can spot them, dodge their tactics, and take back our own energy. You’ll delve into the dynamics of vampire-empath relationships and discover how vampires use others’ energy to fuel their own dysfunctional lives. Once you recognize the patterns of behavior that mark these relationships, you’ll be empowered to identify the vampires in your life too.
In these pages, Dr. Northrup opens up a toolbox full of techniques you can use to leave these harmful relationships behind; heal from the darkness they’ve cast over your mind, body, and spirit; and let your own light shine. In the end, you may find yourself healthier, happier, wealthier, and more vibrant than you ever believed possible.
